Tagging
Tagging allows configuration objects (Connections, Conditions, Models, Instances, and Flows) to be grouped by use case, common components, or arbitrary groups. Once grouped, the UI can be filtered to only show objects with certain tags. This allows a large project to be broken up by use case.
Example
For example, a user may have components used as part of an OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) use case, and another group of objects used for an Environmental use case. To take this further, both use cases may have common cloud connectors, and these cloud Connections could be tagged with “Cloud” in addition to the use case tag.
Once objects are tagged, the UI can filter on “OEE” and only see configuration for the OEE use case.
In Central Hub tags allow configuration objects to be grouped and managed as a whole. For example, one can compare the “OEE” tag across the host and remote hub, to see if there are any changes. Optionally, users could then choose to re-deploy the “OEE” tag to update the use case on the remote hub. Users could also use tagging to update the credentials for “Cloud” tagged connectors and push those credential updates to the remote hubs.
Create the tag
-
Navigate to Configuration and select Tags from the left navigation menu.
-
Click the New button to create a new tag.
-
In the Details step, enter the following information:
- Name: Enter a descriptive name for the tag (for example, “OEE” or “Cloud”).
- Description: Optionally provide a description explaining the purpose of this tag.
-
Click Save to create the tag.

Add tag to entities for OEE use case
Once a tag is created, you can assign it to configuration objects. There are two methods for adding tags to entities:
Method 1: Add tags to individual entities
-
Navigate to the configuration object you want to tag (Connection, Condition, Model, Instance, or Pipeline).
-
Open the entity’s details page for editing.
-
Locate the Tags field in the entity’s configuration form.
-
Select one or more tags from the dropdown list to apply them to the entity.
-
Click Save to apply the tag(s).

Method 2: Bulk add entities to a tag
-
Navigate to Configuration > Tags.
-
Select the tag you want to add entities to from the list.
-
Click the Add button on the tag’s details page.
-
In the Add Tagged Items modal, browse and select the entities you want to tag:
- Select the entity type (Connections, Conditions, Models, Instances, or Pipelines) from the dropdown.
- Check the boxes next to the entities you want to add to this tag.
- You can select multiple entity types and multiple entities at once.
-
Click Add to assign the tag to all selected entities.
-
Review the results to confirm which entities were successfully tagged.

Sync and compare according to tags
Tags enable efficient synchronization and comparison of grouped configuration objects between hubs in Central Hub.
Sync tagged objects between hubs
To synchronize objects with a specific tag between the source and target hub:
-
Click Project and select the Sync tab.
-
The Source hub is the current hub you are connected to.
-
The Target is the hub being synchronized.
-
Disable the Full Project option.
-
Click the browse button and select Tags from the entity type dropdown.
-
Select the tag(s) you want to sync (for example, “OEE”).
-
When you select a tag, all objects with that tag are automatically selected. You can deselect individual objects if needed.
-
Configure any additional sync options as needed (such as Disable Activity to sync pipelines as inactive).
-
Click Sync.
-
Review the results to confirm which objects were successfully synchronized.
